“We don’t know where we are going but the assistance of AgingNext has made life significantly more comfortable. Everyone can benefit from a Sharon”.

James Kallsen swept Diane off her feet at the age of 15 and in just six short days, they will be celebrating 51 years of marriage. These two exemplify what it means to be a match made in heaven! James and Diane are blessed with two girls and they both do as much as they can to support their parents however, “kids come and go, they have their own lives”.

The Kallsen’s were referred to AgingNext when speaking to a senior living community in Riverside, and they can both agree that since that day their lives have changed. As things have progressed in retirement both James and Diane have enormously benefited from AgingNext programs where Diane receives an AgingNext Care Partner Volunteer for five hours every Friday. According to James, Sharon Rozenberg, Care Partner Volunteer, is “a firecracker.” He’s noticed that the moment Sharon walks into their home she has a look on her face that says I have a plan to help Diane remain active and I GOT THIS. Sharon and Diane spend their days together with much-needed girl time. They shop until they drop and socialize over coffee. During those five hours, James is given the opportunity to have some respite time and get his weekly errands done. When the ladies return James can tell from the smile on their faces that they both had an incredible time. As James says, “She has found a new best friend.”

When asking James if he has seen a difference in Diane he said, “let’s just say I look forward to Friday.” James believes that it is good for Diane to have this time with Sharon and have some independence from him. Having Sharon has made a difference in our lives.”

Care Partners are active seniors living on a fixed income that assist homebound seniors living in their own homes.  Clients and Care Partners can get started with a phone call to our office at 909.621.9900.  Once approved, Care Partners and clients are matched based on a variety of factors.
