About the Service

Senior Companions are active seniors living on a fixed income that assist homebound seniors living in their own homes.

Our service area:

Chino, Chino Hills, Claremont, La Verne, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona, Rancho Cucamonga and Upland

Our Senior Companions service is funded by AmeriCorps Seniors.

Who is Eligible

You can become a Senior Companion if you:

  • Are age 55 or above
  • Live in our service areas of Chino, Chino Hills, Claremont, La Verne, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona, Rancho Cucamonga and Upland
  • Pass a background check
  • Meet the income eligibility and physical clearance requirements
  • Have an automobile, valid driver’s license and insurance
  • Attend the required 40 hours of pre-service training and monthly 5-hour in-service training
  • Are a good oral and written communicator
  • Can volunteer at least 15 hours per week

Become a Senior Companion

You can become a Senior Companions Client if you:

  • Live independently in our service areas of Chino, Chino Hills, Claremont, La Verne, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona, Rancho Cucamonga and Upland
  • Are able to perform all daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, eating, maintaining continence and walking on your own
  • Are willing to have a Senior Companion provide one-on-one, non-medical support for five hours or more weekly

How it Works

Clients and Senior Companions can get started with a phone call to our office (909) 621-9900.

Once approved, Senior Companions and clients are matched based on a variety of factors.

Who Benefits

Senior Companions volunteers and clients receive the rewards of a caring, supportive relationship.

Volunteers receive a small stipend for their services and the client gets much needed assistance and support.
